Bio

Dan Nettleton is a Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences in the Department of Statistics. He joined the Department of Statistics at Iowa State in 2000 and served as department chair from 2019 to 2026. He began serving as Associate Dean for Finance and Operations in 2026. He received his BA in mathematics with a minor in computer science from Wartburg College in 1991. He earned MS (1993) and PhD (1996) degrees in statistics from the University of Iowa.

Nettleton was named Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2008 and Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2025. He has been honored with awards for teaching, graduate advising, departmental leadership, and research. His research has involved the development of theory and methods for data-driven modeling, analysis, and prediction in areas such as molecular biology and sports.

Dan Nettleton’s role as Associate Dean for Finance and Operations is a full-time college appointment.
