Bio

Geetu Tuteja is a Professor in the Department of Genetics, Development, and Cell Biology at Iowa State University.

Dr. Tuteja earned her B.A. in Computer Science from Boston University and her Ph.D. in Genomics and Computational Biology from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed postdoctoral research at Stanford University before joining Iowa State in 2015. Her research combines computational and molecular genetic approaches to understand placental development and pregnancy complications, and has been supported by both federal agencies and foundations. In 2019, she was named a Pew Biomedical Scholar, becoming the first Iowa State faculty member to receive this distinction.

Dr. Tuteja works with the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education to advance strategic research initiatives, with a primary focus on artificial intelligence and interdisciplinary collaboration across the college. Her role is a shared-time appointment with the Department of Genetics, Development, and Cell Biology.
