Welcome! We are excited you are considering an adventure in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS). Here are important upcoming dates for incoming first-year students:
FAFSA Filing Deadline for Priority Aid Consideration – December 1, 2018
The FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is filed each year by students to qualify for institutional and federal financial aid. It is important to file the FAFSA each year between October 1 and December 1 to be considered for priority financial aid. Although the priority filing deadline for the 2019-2020 academic year has passed, it is still beneficial to complete the process.
The LAS College Scholarship Application Deadline for Fall 2019 Incoming Students for priority consideration for college scholarships has passed.
Your department may have a later deadline – please check their website for more information. All applications are processed through the OneApp linked below.
By simply completing one application (the OneApp), you will be considered for ISU Office of Student Financial Aid scholarships as well as for the LAS scholarships for which you are eligible. There are many LAS scholarships that consider academic achievement, financial need, major, career interest and other factors. You can also see the various LAS department scholarships. Just remember — you only need to complete the OneApp to be considered for any of these scholarships.
The OneApp will ask you about your experiences, activities, jobs, interests and future plans. You can start the application, then save it and complete it at a later time. It should take you less than an hour to complete. First-year students need to start the process at least 72 hours before the deadline.
To begin the OneApp, you will need your ISU Net-ID. To register for your Net-ID, use the University ID Number included with your offer letter in your welcome packet from Iowa State Admissions.
Getting Your ISU Net-ID
- Open a browser and go to: https://asw.iastate.edu.
- Click on “Register for a Net-ID.”
- Enter your first and last name. Enter your University ID Number – the 6 digits in the first box of the “Your ISU CARD#” are the same for every student and cannot be changed. In the second box, enter your University ID Number.
- Follow the onscreen instructions. A confirmation screen will appear if you have successfully registered your Net-ID.
If you need technical assistance with registering a Net-ID, please contact the IT Solution Center at 515-294-4000.
If you are offered an LAS scholarship, you will be notified by the end of January.
Once you are enrolled at Iowa State, you will find there are many other scholarships that current students can apply for each year. Go to the current student scholarships page to see the opportunities that await for undergraduate research, study abroad, unpaid internships and more.
