Bio

I advise students in the Technical Communication and English majors, as well as students who would like to pursue a minor in Speech Communication.

In addition to my role as an advisor and English instructor, I am also Mental Health First Aid certified, Psychological Health First Aid certified, and trained in Suicide Prevention.

My degrees are in English (B.A.- Transylvania University, 2008) and Creative Writing & Environment (M.F.A. – Iowa State University, 2011), and my nonfiction thesis, Sanctuaries, can be found in the ISU Digital Repository.

Outside of Iowa State, I am an IAABC-certified animal trainer specializing in positive reinforcement, fear-free veterinary assistance, and socialization of feral and shelter cats. I live in Ames with my husband, two wonderful children, two very large dogs, and one cat who rules the roost.
