I am the Transfer Relations Coordinator and Outreach Advisor for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS), and I love my job! I earned a B.A. in Distributed Studies in 1988 from the then Science and Humanities College at Iowa State University and a Masters in Higher Education from Indiana University. After a brief time at Oberlin College in Ohio working in the Department of Residence, I returned to Iowa State to work in Residence Life in 1993 and soon after moved into Academic Advising for the LAS College and have been with the college ever since.
I lead and oversee transfer student recruitment efforts in LAS. I work closely with the Department of Admissions, all departments in the college, and state and regional community colleges in this role. I am also an administrative advisor for the college and serve a key role in retention and orientation activities. I am the point person to coordinate the Admissions Partnership Program for the college (a program that allows students to attend any of the Iowa community colleges in the state while establishing a connection to the academic department they intend to transfer into). I also advise high school students taking Iowa State classes as part of the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program for the university, Bachelor of Liberal Studies students, and special non-degree seeking students in the college.
